Explainer & Story

The info and story modes — what each one draws, when to pick which, and the one field that separates them.

info and story are two of the three modes on the shared storybook endpoints. For the endpoints, request parameters, polling, statuses, and the video render step, see the Explainer & Slides overview. This page covers only what is specific to these two modes.

mode is optional; omitting it gives you info. Everything else about the request is identical between the two — same endpoint, same parameters, same response shape. The overview's mode table has what each one draws.

When to pick which

Pick info when the source has structure worth showing: a comparison, a process, a set of figures. The visuals lean on charts and diagrams, and the cover reads like a magazine feature.

Pick story when the source has a narrative: a customer journey, a founding story, a case study. The visuals are scene illustrations rather than diagrams, so a page of statistics comes back drawn as a scene, not plotted as a chart.

Example

curl -X POST "https://api.marswave.ai/openapi/v1/storybook/episodes" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LISTENHUB_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "sources": [
      {"type": "url", "content": "https://example.com/quarterly-report"}
    ],
    "speakers": [{"speakerId": "<SPEAKER_ID>"}],
    "language": "en",
    "mode": "info"
  }'
curl -X POST "https://api.marswave.ai/openapi/v1/storybook/episodes" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $LISTENHUB_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "sources": [
      {"type": "text", "content": "How a two-person team shipped their first product in ninety days..."}
    ],
    "speakers": [{"speakerId": "<SPEAKER_ID>"}],
    "language": "en",
    "mode": "story"
  }'

Both return an episodeId. Poll it, then optionally render the video — see the workflow.
